SCCS Band Program

The SCCS Band Program is composed of grades 5-12; out of which there are three bands: Fifth Grade Band, 6th Grade Band, and grades 7-12 Concert/Marching Band. These ensembles meet at regularly scheduled times during school, and have during and after school sectionals. Extra ensembles include Pep Band, Jazz Band, and Flute Choir, which meet during and after school. These ensembles make many appearances during the year.

Grades are made up of the following criteria: Concert Attendance, playing tests(may vary per class and is based on level of individual student), Practice Charts (grades 5 and 6), and Classroom Attendance/Behavior.

There are also many outside opportunities to progress as an individual musician; students may participate or try out for the following ensembles during the school year: District 2 High School/Junior High Solo and Ensemble Contest, District 2 High School/Junior High Honors Band Festival, District 2 Honors Jazz Band Festival, ...as well as various college honors ensembles. This year, MORE THAN 75% of 7-12 students participated in at least one of the above District 2 activities!

Our Band Program is very unique in that it is small and provides opportunities which some schools cannot, such as: individual attention at all levels, instrument mentoring from grades 8-12, and section leading in the 8th grade!

We are more like a team with many levels working together towards a common goal ...MAKING MUSIC! ..
